Peep Nottz’s self-produced tribute to J-Dilla. As expected from the likes of Nottz, the beat is crazy. A definite gem and a treat for those of you who were previously unaware of Nottz’s skills on the mic. Be sure to cop his upcoming LP, You Need This Music which will feature track and more. Enjoy!

WORDS BY CAMERON OSTEEN

I was very excited to have the opportunity to catch up with and interview rising pop star and latest Jive records signee, Tydis for this site. With all the hype surrounding him, I knew it was imperative that I sit down and get a thorough and accurate account of his career from the man himself. Pay attention. Tydis has quite a bright future ahead of him, and you WILL be seeing (and hearing) a lot of him in the near future. He is a true 21st-century, DIY artist who managed to make the labels come to him, just like The Cool Kids, Soulja Boy, and Drake.

Read on and learn about him, as he speaks about his humble beginnings in St. Louis, shares how he got signed with Jive records, and imparts his wisdom about becoming successful in the music industry.

NEW: REL!G!ON x Moka Only x E.D.G.E – “Lucid” (Audio)

by

[tweetmeme source=”iamcam_” only_single=false]

Moka Only said it best at the beginning of the video: “This shit is dope!”  I keep hearing dope ass music from Canadian artists. Props to Canada! RELIGION is a dope Canadian producer who has been doing beats for Canadian artists for a minute now. This song is from his album, REVELATIONZ I, which is available on iTunes right now. Definitely worth your $9.99. This track features some ill verses from Moka Only and E.D.G.E., two very dope emcees.

This beat is so crazy. It has an abstract, futuristic vibe, yet straight hip hop. And the visuals go so well with it. Props to Nicholas Treeshin, the director. Enjoy this creative musical masterpiece.

Today is the birthday of the legendary hip hop phenomenon, J-Dilla. I like to call him Hip hop’s Miles Davis. He is to hip hop what Miles was to jazz. To celebrate, I posted up some of my favorites from his catalog. The first is music video for his song, “Nothing Like This” and I also uploaded one of my favorite beats of his which you can peep and download below.

NEW: Rick Ross x Lil Wayne x Birdman – “Veteran’s Day” (Audio)

by

[tweetmeme source=”iamcam_” only_single=false]

The latest from Rick Ross’s forthcoming album, Teflon Don. Judging by the joints I’ve been hearing, I think this album is going to be crazy. Possibly even classic material. I wouldn’t hesitate to say that it could actually be a candidate for album of the year this year. We shall see. With the Justice League in his corner, he can do anything. [Note: The Justice League did not, in fact, produce this song. I’m currently trying to find out who did. If you have any info, please email me admin-cam@freshcookiez.com] Needless to say, this song is crack.

Along with this and upcoming releases from Laws, Jeezy, Black Milk, and more, 2010 is shaping up to be a great year for Hip hop. I’m excited to see (and hear) how it all unfolds.

Be on the lookout for Teflon Don. Peep & download the joint below:

Enjoy! Thanks D Dot Omen.

NEW: Erykah Badu – “Window Seat” [Prod. by James Poyser & Erykah Badu] (Audio)

For all you Erykah fans out there, she’s back with that classic sound of hers that we all know and love. This joint is mellow and very soulful. It’s the first single off of her forthcoming LP, New Amerykah Part 2 (Return of the Ankh). I really dug Part 1. It looks like this one will be going in a more organic, soulful direction than the last one. Be on the lookout for that. This joint is co-produced by Erykah and James Poyser with Questlove on drums and Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner on bass. Peep and download below:

Enjoy! Thanks Rap Up.
